We utilise our strategic relationships, market knowledge and our professional team to help you create amazing Events
Sports Marketing Australia (SMA) has long term contracts with 62 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tourism organisations throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our objective is to grow and develop Sports and Events Tourism as a dynamic industry for all of our partnering regions. Each of these LGA's and tourism organisations are highly motivated to attract events to their region and are prepared to provide incentives in the form of commercial and logistical support. Our local government partners are looking to host events that provide real economic, community and branding benefits within their regions. The result is a "Win - Win" scenario for event owners, the LGA's/Tourism Organisations, their business communities, and wider communities.
SMA's strategic method used in identifying the most suitable regions to host our events has been invaluable. Acting as the conduit between the regional centre and our organisation streamlines the process and ensures that all stakeholders achieve the outcomes they desire.

The Local Government Areas (Councils) with which Sports Marketing Australia partner must meet a number of key criteria including:
SMA's partnering Local Government Areas (LGAs) or Councils are prepared to provide incentives in the form of funding and other Value In Kind (VIK) support to encourage event owners to bring events to their regions. With 20+ years experience, we find innovative ways to give you the best outcome for your event. Your account manager from the Events Team, will walk you through the huge range of options and benefits available - helping you compare and ultimately choose the most suitable host location.
Funding is based on the economic, branding and community benefits that your event brings to our partnering regions. In 2019, our program delivered just over $3.99 million in funding to event owners.
VIK support varies from council to council but could include: - Free venue hire if the venue is Council owned and managed - Temporary infrastructure - Council services i.e. rubbish removal, traffic management etc.
Because Councils have a vested interest in seeing a successful outcome for your event, it receives maximum media and marketing exposure locally and regionally. This, in turn, will help grow your event and the footprint of the sport locally.
Councils have a wealth of local knowledge and they can give you friendly advice on where to stay, what to do and help book your accommodation and activities while competitors are staying in the area.
